Co-sponsored by the Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia and by the Autonomous Province of Voivodina in the framework of EUROSTART Programme, the project involved the participation of Fondazione Aquileia and the Direction for the Protection of Cultural Heritage of Sremska Mitrovica.
SIRMIUM – CITY OF THE TSARS has helped the exchange of good practices and the transfer of knowledge in the archaeological sector between the two partners.
A study visit and four workshops were organized in Aquileia to learn about the restoration techniques of mosaics, frescoes and stone artefacts. Another workshop focussed on the management systems of archaeological sites in Italy.
In Serbia, the skilled restorers of Fondazione Aquileia sided their Serbian colleagues to transfer the latest techniques and procedures used in mosaic restoration in Italy.
Other actions included a conference on cultural policies and a three-day training workshop on managing project cycle management and drawing cross-country cooperation cultural projects, which was attended by the operators of the leading cultural institutions of Voivodina.
