Aquileia - UNESCO Heritage Site from 1998 - welcomes us with a series of sensations. First of all we are led by the 73-metres-height Poppo's bell tower. After that, the city stuns us with the majesty of its Basilica, with the 1300 metres of the roman west wider mosaic floor. And then? Aquileia retires, and starts to confuse us. Step by step we guess its past, its greatness, its 50.000 inhabitants during the imperial age: but how was like the city founded by the romans in 181 B.C. and destroyed by Attila in 452 A.D.?
